Dilwale box office collections vs Bajirao Mastani: Overall, Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dilwale box office collections in India have risen to Rs 75.18 crore and the tally with foreign earnings reached Rs 131.18 crore. On the other hand, Bajirao Mastani box office collections in terms of India sale is Rs 57.02 crore and the overall tally is at Rs 87.02 crore.
Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh’s Bajirao Mastani, which had a slow start at the box office, has picked up pace over the weekend thanks to the strong and positive word of mouth. Bajirao Mastani’s collections have now registered a jump and is doing much better than Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol’s Dilwale.
Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale, which have been going head strong at the box office, had witnessed a growth in their collections over the weekend, but Monday (December 22) collections have come as a surprise as SRK’s undefeated ‘Dilwale’ has been overpowered by the collections of ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
When the movies hit theatres, while Dilwale got Rs 21 crore (day 1), Rs 20.09 crore (day 2) and Rs 24 crore (day 3), the film managed an India take of Rs 65.09 crore and with foreign take, the tally ballooned to Rs 89.11 crore.
The same on part of Bajirao Mastani was Rs 12.80 crore (day 1), Rs 15.52 crore (day 2) and Rs 18.45 crore (day 3) for an India total of Rs 47.77 crore and an opening weekend tally of Rs 61.17 crore.
Monday’s take is crucial for both Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani as in this week itself there is an extended holiday weekend fast approaching starting Friday (Christmas) and the movie that starts the week well may end up standing tall at its conclusion. What is now going to decide which movie rules, or whether both go head-to-head, is word of mouth and who has a larger fan following as well as which movie received a bigger marketing push.
Rohit Shetty’s film is also doing good overseas. The total collections of both the films still puts Bajirao Mastani in the second position. The overall collections of ‘Dilwale’ in India are Rs. 75.18 cr, and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ has earned Rs. 57.02 cr. Rohit Shetty recently said that it was not ‘Bajirao Mastani’ that affected the film but the people calling a ban on the movie did.
So, even though the figures are falling rapidly, both Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani are in a position to still give each other a stiff fight for the cinegoers wallet.
The only other competition that both Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani will face is Star Wars: The Force Awakens this Friday and then on January 8 when Amitabh Bachchanstarrer Wazir hits the theatres.
