In Trouble For Bribing Ex Censor | Rohit Shetty Under CBI Scanner

The CBI’s Mumbai unit has recommended registration of a case against producers of the box-office hit film, Singham Returns, on charges of bribing former chief of the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC), Rakesh Kumar.

Rohit Shetty is under CBI scanner for allegedly giving bribe to ex Censor Chief Rakesh Kumar. The reports regarding the case suggest that the screening of Rohit’s film Singham Returns was organized on August 7, 2014 after Kumar allegedly forced two of his board members to sign on blank forms. Well reports also suggest that these officials were a part of the screening and also director of the film Rohit Shetty was at the screening.


The CBI sent a recommendation to their Delhi headquarters in January 2015 and the Mumbai unit is currently investigating the matter.

The recommendation was sent to the CBI’s Delhi headquarters in January this year. When contacted, a CBI spokesperson said, “we are probing the case and the investigation is underway”.

According to the reports, Kishan Palli who is the authorized agent for production house that made Singham Returns has also said that Rohit Shetty offered Rs. 2 lakhs in order to get the censor certificate. Reports further suggest that Kishan Palli has expressed that Kumar repeatedly told Rohit Shetty that his film hurt certain religious sentiments and a few dialogues and scenes need to be cut, however Rohit insisted that there should be minimum cuts and Kumar was paid to get the CC.

Singham Returns obtained the censor certificate (CC) on August 8, 2014, a few days before its UAE premier on August 14, 2014.

The case is still being studied by the officials. Moreover this revelation has surely created a massive trouble for Rohit Shetty who is coming up with his next film Dilwale; the issue can be a hassle for the filmmaker for his upcoming movie which is slated to release on December 18th.
